Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 2026. This is a static website. We run no accounts, no newsletter, and no backend database. The practical effect is that we collect very little directly. The one piece of third-party code on every page is Google Analytics, which we use to count visits; it is described below.
What Slushpile collects directly
Slushpile does not collect personal information from visitors directly. We do not ask for your name, email address, or any other identifier in order to read pages or use the tools. There is no login and no account system.
The web server that delivers these pages produces standard access logs, as essentially every web server does. Those logs include IP address, timestamp, the URL requested, the HTTP status returned, and the user-agent string sent by your browser. Access logs are retained only as long as needed to diagnose technical problems and are not used to build profiles of individual visitors.
What the tools store
The interactive tools on this site — the submission tracker in particular — use your browser's localStorage to save the data you enter. localStorage is a per-site storage area controlled by your browser. The data never leaves your device. It is not transmitted to Slushpile and cannot be read by other websites.
If you clear your browser's site data, use private browsing, or switch to a different browser or device, the data saved by the tools will not be available there. There is no sync and no cloud copy.
Analytics (Google Analytics)
Every page on Slushpile loads Google Analytics 4 (gtag.js), a web analytics service provided by Google. It sets first-party cookies (such as _ga) and sends Google information about your visit: the pages you view, the referring site, approximate location derived from your IP address, device and browser type, and similar technical details. We use the resulting aggregate reports to see which guides and tools are useful. We do not use Google Analytics to identify individual visitors, and we do not send it anything you type into the tools.
Google processes this data under its own privacy policy (policies.google.com/privacy); see also how Google uses information from sites that use its services. You can opt out of Google Analytics across all sites with the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on, or by blocking cookies or third-party scripts in your browser.
Advertising and affiliate links
Slushpile does not currently display advertising and does not use affiliate links. If that ever changes, this page and the disclaimer will be updated before it happens.
Children
Slushpile is intended for a general adult audience and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information through this site, please contact us so we can delete it.
Your choices
- Cookies. Your browser lets you block or delete cookies at any time. Blocking cookies will not affect your ability to read guides or use the tools; it simply means your visit is not counted by Google Analytics.
- Do Not Track. Slushpile's own code does not track you across the web. Google Analytics does not honor the Do Not Track signal; use the opt-out add-on or a content blocker if you want to exclude yourself.
- localStorage. You can clear the submission tracker's data at any time from within the tool, or by clearing site data in your browser.
Data requests and contact
Because Slushpile does not maintain user accounts, there is no account record to export or delete. For access, correction, or deletion requests relating to any information you believe we may hold, or for any other privacy question, contact privacy [at] slushpile.org.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes in a meaningful way, the update date at the top of this page will change. Material changes will be summarized at the top of the page for a reasonable period.
